What is European Roulette?
European Roulette is a classic game of chance which uses a wheel and a betting grid. A ball is sent into a numbered wheel in the opposite direction to which the wheel is spinning, and the bet is based on the chance of the ball landing in a particular numbered pocket.
In other words the game is based on the prediction of where the ball will land
when the wheel has been sent spinning. Each pocket on the wheel has a number
from 0 to 36; pockets are black or red in color. The pocket that the ball stops
in is the winning number. Bets are placed on the corresponding grid and can be
made up of single or multiple bets.

Rules of How to Play European Roulette
The rules of European Roulette are very simple. Spin the ball - the ball comes to a stop on the "winning number." If the player's bet includes this number then he has won. The amount he wins depends on the type of bet he placed. There are bets known as Inside Bets which have higher odds and Outside Bets which have lower odds. These bets which are detailed below are placed according to the quantity and type of numbers from the grid that the player includes in his bet. If the player only bets on the ball landing on one particular number, it is known as a Straight Bet and the odds are very high a (35:1).
|
 |
The larger the quantity of numbers that the player includes in his bet, the
lower the odds are. For example, the bet with the lowest odds is known as Even
Money (i.e. odds to win 1:1), which corresponds to the chance of the ball
landing on any one of 18 numbers. A player is allowed to place different bet
types on the table in one particular game. In other words he can place more than
one bet at a time. He could choose to place bets with high odds and low odds in
the same game and also bet different amounts per bet in each game.

How to Win At European Roulette
As mentioned briefly the way a player can win depends on where the ball lands
when the wheel is spun and what sort of bet he places at the beginning of the
game. He can place more than one bet per game. There are a number of different
types of bets that can be placed as explained below:
- Straight Bet - This is a bet on a solitary number and the chip with which the player bets, showing the coin size or credit size the player is betting, is moved to the centre of the square of the number chosen. The odds on this bet are 35:1, so if the player wins this bet, and has placed one coin then he can win 36 coins back. This is worked out as the 35 coins from the odds plus the coin he betted in the first place so it is a total of 36 coin credits.
- Split Bet - this is as it sounds, the player is able to split his bet between
two numbers. In other words he can put the coin in between two squares and he
has a one in two chance of landing on these numbers. The odds for this type of
bet are 17:1 which is logical as it is a split bet from the straight bet which
is based on landing on only one square.
- Street Bet - This is a bet on any three numbers in a row that are grouped
together. All of the numbers from the wheel are laid out on a grid like table
where the player can place his bet. A row is made up of three numbers across,
giving the player a chance to bet on three numbers in one go. Naturally the odds
for this are lower at 11:1.
- A Square Bet - This is a bet on a block of four numbers on the grid. The numbers
all have to be adjacent. This type of bet has odds of 8:1 and can also be known
as a Four Number Bet. The chip which signifies the bet is placed at the middle
meeting point of the four squares.
- A Line Bet - This bet is also known as a Six Number Line Bet which is basically
a bet on two rows of numbers; a row of three and another row of three that must
be adjacent This bet pays out odds of 5:1 and to signal this bet the chip is
placed above the dozen bets so that it is in-between the rows that the player is
placing his bet on.
- A Column Bet - this is a bet placed on any of the numbers in a column. The chip
is placed at the bottom of the column that the player is betting on. The odds
for this bet are 2:1.
- A Dozen Bet - this is also a bet that pays out 2:1 and is placed on any one of
the sections of 12 numbers. Hence the name Dozen Bet - i.e. it is placed on a
dozen. The betting grid is split into three sections which are lots of 12 or
dozens, so the bet can be on the first, second or third dozen. If the player
bets five coins and one of his selected numbers comes up, with odds of 2:1 he is
paid out 15 coins. The way it is worked out is by taking the bet amount
multiplied by 2 which is 10 plus the original bet of 5 coins giving a total of
15 coins.
- Even Money Bet - this is the bet with the lowest odds it just pays 1:1 .The
player, if he wins redeems the bet he placed and the same again. In other words
he doubles his bet. This is a bet placed on 18 numbers in one go. The bet can be
placed on one of the following squares that appear on the grid; the even, odd,
red, black, 1-18 or 19-36.

Definitions and Terms for European Roulette
See Above Section on Betting.
The bets are divided into two types, known as Inside Bets and Outside Bets. Inside Bets are made up of any bet which is placed on a Roulette number from 0-36. These are the Straight bet, Split Bet, Street Bet, Square bet, and Line Bet. Most of the bets are known as Inside Bets; in other words they have an "inside chance" of winning.
The Outside Bets are the Column Bet, The Dozen Bet and the Even Money Bet. They offer lower odds, and are therefore seen as having an "outside chance" of winning. Outside bets can be categorized as any bet placed outside of the table layout such as black numbers only or the first 12 numbers. The game of European Roulette is simple to learn and follow and is a game of pure chance and luck.
